Healing through the Arts

Paintings will be on display from Aug-Nov in the Cancer Center at
St.Johns Mercy Hospital
in St.Louis. the display or gallery is referred to as: Healing through
the Arts. The hope is that the art somehow brightens their day or touches
them.
The 41st Annual Area Artist Exhibit and Competition,
titled ORIGINALE, will be held at the Hannibal Arts Council from September
9 through October 6. The exhibit and competition, hosted by Riverland
Artists Group, features the area's largest representation of local artists
residing within a 50-mile radius of Hannibal.
Riverland Artists Group is expecting at least 200 pieces by over 70
area artists to be exhibited in the following mediums: Oil/oil pastel;
Drawings/Prints (pencil, charcoal, soft pastel, lithography, soft ground
etching, monotypes); Water media (watercolor, gouache, egg tempera);
Sculpture/assemblage; Mixed media; Photography; and Acrylic (glassed
and unglassed acrylics). Placement awards will be given in each of the
seven categories, in addition to placement awards, and a variety of Patron
Awards.

1st Place – “Coming out of a Dark Year”
Currently working on a 65' long 8'2" tall mural depict
9 churches that existed at the turn of century
in Louisiana, Mo. Churches include First Baptist, Maryland St. Baptist,
AME, Wesley Chapel,
Centenary Methodist, First Presbyterian, St. Joseph Catholic and Calvary
Episcopal. Completion date scheduled for mid-Oct.
